The Northstar Group is a major financial sponsor of the Drum reunion funding many of the expenses associated with the drawing together of the old Drum crew and getting the yacht over the start line and, this time, back in one piece. Thanks to the Northstar Group, the crew hopes to be able to fund the larger part of the set up and operating expenses and leave room for other sponsors to contribute for the ultimate benefit of the RNLI.

The Northstar Group evolved from a real estate and construction business started nearly 20 years ago in New Zealand by businessman Mark Cooper. Now under the Northstar banner are real estate investment and development operations in New Zealand, Los Angeles and Switzerland. The Northstar team has been pulled together from a diverse range of disciplines and nationalities resulting in a powerful management and operations team capable of undertaking any project any where in the world where the fundamentals of a sound investment are identified. The organization has its principal offices in Auckland (NZ), Los Angeles (Ca, USA) and Crans-Montana (Switzerland). Development projects underway in 2005 in each country represent a combined gross sales value of approximately US$230m.

The spirit and history of the Northstar Group lends itself perfectly to an association with the Arnold Clark Drum entry in the Fastnet Race. It certainly appeals to the Northstar philosophy to assist in the pulling together of a diverse collection of skilled people from all over the world to complete the fateful race and do it in style going some way to repay the tireless commitment of the RNLI.
